Hopefully our shop will be completed by the end of May. As you will know Rhubarb and Custard are solely selling Dolls Houses and accessories from April onwards. We are in the process in the completion of several houses, decorating the exterior and fitting new lights. We do envisage the shop will be completed by the end of May with more accessories, electrics and wallpaper. We are hopefully putting this shop in a position where people will travel just to come to our shop. We will have hundreds of styles of wallpaper, hundreds of accessories and furniture to choose from - we will also have an order service where we will promise your items to be delivered within 10 days.

Relatively the same – some Internet sites can be cheaper by £10 although postal charges actually make them more expensive. Rhubarb and Custard are always the price the Dolls House Emporium suggest (where most of all our Dolls Houses are from), we also offer the same monthly offers as they do. We also offer a 5% discount on all new houses if payment is paid in cash and everytime you purchase a house from ourselves, whether new or vintage, you are then entitled to 10% discount on all dolls house purchases from then on.

HOUSES

We sell the best houses on the market and through our showroom models you can see the quality that they are. Through the Internet you cannot see what quality they are. We have a large range of houses and also offer you the chance to purchase vintage houses that have a lot of history behind them.

DELIVERY

Internet deliveries can take up to 28 days, although most are around 5 days. You can pay extra for next day delivery putting up the price even more. Rhubarb and Custard houses are delivered within 3 days and at most times can be delivered on the next working day.

ADVICE

Rhubarb and Custard offer free advice on all areas of dolls houses, we give you tips and the best way to make this hobby an enjoyable one. We give this on a one to one basis and do not charge for this, we even can show you examples of what is needed. Internet advice is extremely different – most advice is done through emails or telephone and therefore losing out on many aspects of seeing what is needed and examples in front of you. Most sites only offer basic advice, whereas Rhubarb and Custard have had experience in Dolls Houses for over 20 years.

AFTER SALES SERVICE

We offer a very personal after sales service; we also can give you this at a time that suits you. When you purchase a house from ourselves you also get 10% discount on all future Dolls House purchases saving you £’s in the future – a lot more than £10 when you first purchase a house (if you buy it from the internet).

CHRISTMAS CLUB

Rhubarb and Custard offer a club facility on all our Dolls Houses and Accessories. You can put a deposit as little as £20 down to secure a house and then pay the balance when you wish to – this can be done by instalments or a lump sum. We make sure you get the best deal that is right for – for example a Lady saved over £200 on a Dolls House and accessories for Christmas in 2009.

BUILDING/DECORATING/LIGHTING

Unlike Internet sites we can build, decorate and put light in your Dolls House when you require. We can also build children’s Dolls Houses that are purchased from us by us at no extra charge.

CHRISTMAS/BIRTHDAYS

We can keep your Dolls House you have purchased right up to the last minute and can be collected right up to 10.30pm on any evening. This helps children not seeing their gift until the actual big day. This is an ideal situation at Christmas, and was used on most of our houses last Christmas.

Over the next month the new "Dolls House Shop" will be completed. We will have more wallpaper, furntiure and accessories. We will also have a small section dedicated to electrics. But this is not all we will also have new houses on show,including a special display remembering the blitz. We keep on getting more vintage houses and these seem to be getting more and more popular. On friday we will have a Greenleaf Dolls House that is worth a look. This will be for sale for around £250 - it has been built and decorated and will need a minimal amount of work to it. Our website will be getting updated this weekend and will show all our dolls houses, we are also in the process of making a new website solely for furniture and accessories.

As you will all know we sell vintage houses as well as the new ones. We have many different ones coming in all the time - two are on their in the next couple of weeks - a 10 roomed house and a tea room - both worth looking at. Vintage and used houses are becoming very popular with our customers as they can renovate or restore them to the way they want them to look. At present we have 2 triang houses, 1 childs house (on wheels!), a fantastic georgian house, and scottish cottage and a few more. The transformation in the shop has now got underway- the Dolls Houses will be moved and will give the opportunity for us to show more houses, furniture, accessories and wallpaper. The Dolls House section will really give you more opportunity to get what you want. Displays will include our all year round christmas house, a florists and garden centre, The Victoria Cross (Pub), A Wizards house and by May our Blitz display. We will also be having various display boxes to give you ideas. Unfortunatly due to us moving the shop around all books, toys and puppets are right down to the minimum but when we get to their part then stock will be put back as it should be. Hopefully by next week we will have completed the florists/gardencentre, the Wizards house and the Victoria Cross. The Christmas scene has now been completed. One window is missing and has been decorated unlike the original look. However this is a Fantastic Dolls House and does need some repairing but could be a fantastic project. A Collectors item and much sort after house, wouldn't take much to get it back to its original glory.
One sold on ebay last week for over £450 and to be honest was in a worst condition! An American shop is selling one for over 700$ (Starting bid). We are selling this one for only £200.00. We have photos above, the one right above shows how it should look (from the Tri-ang Website).

Living Puppets are in our opinion the best puppets you can buy - they are used by nearly everyone and almost become a member of your family. All are of the highest quality and can be washed. They help with education with a lot of our education customers buying them to use in their classes. We always carry a few in our shop to show our customers but there are lots to choose from - we never carry the same one twice! All puppets are 65cms high and many have clothing that can be taken off and changed - yes we do sell clothes for them too. We must apologise for not posting for the past few months, we have been really busy lately and we have so much ambition for this outlet. We have a fantastic range of wooden toys, a great range of dolls houses and our puppets are just magical. We are in the process of making an area for our wooden train sets which will be ready in early september. Our dolls houses are extremly popular and again we have produced a special area for these. We are in the process of building four streets! Yes four - The first will show two fantastic houses from Barbara's Mouldings, the second road will show three houses from the Dolls house empourium, the third display will show a church and school - while our fourth is for the childrens houses. We are well worth a visit and we are certain you will love what you see. Also a christmas club for all items is available as is our free ordering service.

Yes signed and sealed! We will be in the premises within the next two weeks - and then the real work starts. Decorating, building and getting stock in and then hopefully opening on St Georges Day (If all goes to plan). More details arriving soon.

Its all going well and hopefulyl the lease will go through fine now - we are hoping to open our new shop in April and at the latest May - we are hoping to open for St Georges Day - what a day to open but we can't promise it! We have had great feedback from our new and old customers - and for something different to go with our quality of Dolls Houses and Wooden Toys we will be having a cowboys and Indians, farms and Romans! Another Weekend - Off To Scotland

Well its Saturday night and we are all packed up for our week away to Scotland - hopefully no Snow until we get there! Another cold day but nice to go with it! Two more weeks and then we start the serious planning for the new shop designs, ordering etc etc - Not too difficult as most of my ideas are already in my head! Well I'll be back in a week hopefully fully rested and ready for another busy year

The weather today was very cold infact so cold my little lad wore gloves, scarf and even a hat! Luckily we never got any of the snow so even though it was cold we had lovely blue sky. The answer is yes so just paperwork and we can open the premises in April as planned. Plans are now being set up for how the outlet will look - we are looking to do different areas -
